New Canadian Subscription Box - Designher Kit

** This company no longer offers subscriptions.**

There's a new Canadian subscription box on the market and this is one I am really excited about. Launched by the founders of Designher Co., a stylish DYI craft studio in Toronto, Designher Kit is a DIY jewellery subscription service.

Each month, you receive a metallic envelope filled with the materials needed for 3 inspiring DIY projects. It costs just $19 per month and includes shipping within Canada. When your package arrives, log in to designherkit.com for instructions on how to create your projects.

Designher Kit also offers a DIY Starter Kit for $29 plus $5 shipping, which includes needle-nose pliers, flat-nose pliers, round-nose pliers, wire-cutter pliers, a glue gun, two glue stocks, and a thread nipper.

Since Designher Kit is a new service, they are not currently offering traditional subscriptions. Instead, they are running a campaign on IndieGoGo to raise funds for the launch. If you aren't familiar with crowdfunding, the premise is simple: people donate money to support a project in exchange for gratitude or tangible perks.

Designher Kit has a range of contribution levels and perks. For a $5 donation, you get a discount coupon towards your future subscription. For $16, you get a 1 month subscription, a bonus project, and a discount coupon for your next subscription. For $26, you can get the DIY Starter Kit. For $69, you can get a 3 month subscription, plus 4 bonus projects, plus a discount when you renew. For pricier donations, you can get perks like a 12 month subscription, a ladies night party at the Designher Co. studio in Toronto, or the biggest perk: for $1289 you can get a 12 month subscription for yourself and 4 friends, which also includes 5 DIY toolkits, 1 bonus project per month for all 5 subscriptions, and a discount coupon for each subscription.

I love supporting small businesses through sites like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo. Lots of great subscription services started this way, including Treatsie. I also recently pledged to Carnivore Club, another Canadian subscription service that delivers artisanal cured meats to your door. When I heard about Designher Kit, I knew immediately that I would pledge. Not only is Designher Kit Canadian, and a subscription service, but their projects look amazing. I love the spike necklace and tassel bracelet pictured above. I decided to sign up for the 1 month subscription plus the DIY Starter Kit Ad On. That's a $69 value for $42.

If you are interested in supporting Designher Kit, check out their campaign on IndieGoGo. There is a great little video and lots of information about the company. The campaign runs for another 36 days and all perks are expected to ship by January 2014.

Show your support for Canadian subscription services and either pledge or promote Designher Kit!
