Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Review - Inaugural Box July 2013 - Natural Beauty Subscription Box

What is it? Vegan Cuts Beauty Box
How much? $19.95 per month plus $8 shipping to Canada
What's in it? 4-7 100% cruelty free products

The first ever Vegan Cuts Beauty Box was released last month and promised at least $60 worth of vegan, cruelty free, natural products. I was curious so I signed up.

The shipping box was underwhelming. It's nothing like the preview illustration that was released in June and is much smaller than I expected... but good things come in small packages, right?

First look

Product card

The message says "Welcome to the premier Vegan Cuts Beauty Box! We've picked these cruelty-free beauty treats, so  you can beat the heat while looking like a million bucks." At the bottom it says "No-bunny was harmed in the making of this box" and on the back, the motto is "Compassion never looked so good". The card is very professional, despite being so darn cute.

LVX - Nail Lacquer in Deco (15ml, full size, $16)
Deco nail lacquer is a gorgeous, vibrant coral shade from their 2013 Summer Collection.

LVX is 5-free, vegan and cruelty free. The colour is actually darker than it appears in the photo above and it goes on pretty well. At least two coats are needed, but it gives good coverage and is highly pigmented. So far, I like it!

Lippy Girl - Extra Virgin Vegan Lip Gloss (Full size, $15)
Extra Virgin Lip Gloss nourishes your kisser with pure organic oils and bee-free waxes.

Lippy Girl Cosmetics is a Canadian company, based in Whistler, B.C.! Lippy Girl products are all eco-friendly, natural, organic, vegetarian or vegan, and cruelty free. I've seen this product many times before but never tried it myself. I'm looking forward to it!

Namaste - Jemma Pouch in Hollywood Pink ($7)
Namaste's colorful Jemma Pouch is the perfect place to stow your new beauty stash.

Namaste products are made with PVC-free "vegan leather". The inside lining is a "micro-suede" made of recycled pop bottles! The pouch is quite small and more like a change purse than a place to stow my beauty stash.

Acure Organics 100% Organic Moroccan Argan Oil (5ml sample,  $2.50)
Vitamin-rich Argan Oil works to repair imperfections and restore elasticity.

This is a 5-in-1 beauty product and can be used as a facial serum, cuticle oil, hair serum, to soften rough elbows and knees, and to diminish scars & fine lines. I have many argan oil samples from various subscription box. I'm always happy to have another. It's a great multi-use product!

Suntegrity 5 in 1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen in Golden Light (0.25oz sample, $3.95)
Suntergrity's non-greasy 5-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer provides hydration, coverage, sun defense, and more for your face.

I LOVE anything with SPF and this SPF 30 is almost like a BB cream. It's tinted and it's "5-in-1" formula treats, hydrates, protects, primes and covers. The Golden Light shade might be a touch too dark for me. It's also available in "Light" and the sample tubes can be purchased on their website.

Essence of Vali - Sleep A Bedtime Ritual (0.5ml sample, $1.80)
Sleep is a potent and soothing blend of essential oils that ensures a peaceful slumber.

I've never really tried aromatherapy products. I might try this one tonight... put a dab on the corner of your pillow case and let the essential oils do the work.

NYL Skincare - Rosewater Face Wash (1oz sample, $5)
The gentle Rosewater Face Wash acts as both an astringent and moisturizing cleanser for all skin types.

I'm a fan of all face washes. I've never used a liquid soap quite like this though. I buy bottles of rosewater in a local Persian food shop (only $2.50!) and use it as part of my cleansing ritual. Rosewater is very soothing on the skin and it smells nice too! This NYL product is "free" of everything, as you can see from the card in the photo!

GlamNatural - Mascara in Black (sample size, $8)
This chemical-free mascara lengthens, thickens, and separates lashes without clumping or smudging.

GlamNatural is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten free, and paraben free. I get a lot of mascara samples, and I end up giving away many of them, but this one I am really looking forward to using.

 Namaste Pouch not pictured... oops!

The inaugural Vegan Cuts Beauty Box contained 8 products, two of them full size! The estimated retail value of everything included is $60, just as promised! Keep in mind, this is the first ever Vegan Cuts Beauty Box, so this one includes extra items and has a higher value. Going forward, the boxes will include 4-7 products with a minimum value of $35 per month.

Of all the products included, I was only familiar with Lippy Girl. Everything else is new to me, which is great! I also like that all of the products included are from higher end, established brands. I've learned through this beauty box journey that I am not a huge fan of small-scale, independent beauty companies.

Natural and vegan beauty products are not high on my scale of importance, but I'm happy I purchased this box. It's a great first offering from Vegan Cuts and I'm positive they will continue to deliver great collections every month.

What do you think of the first ever Vegan Cuts Beauty Box?
