BarkBox Review - June 2013 - Pet Subscription Box

What is it? BarkBox
How Much? $29 per month, $69 for 3 months (save 18%) or $114 for 6 months (save 34%)
What's in it? 4 or more products for your dog

I ordered the June Bark Box because I was dog sitting my mum's dog for the month. Unfortunately, the box didn't arrive until July 4th, after the pooch had already gone home! Not to worry though - I took the box to my mum's house tonight and her two dogs went nuts for all the treats.

First look

Product card

Whole Life - Trail Mix Grilled Sirloin Burgers  (1.2oz, $2.99)
These are little freeze-dried, burger shaped treats made with 100% beef and nothing else. The dogs LOVED them.

Dale Edgar - Calm K9 Nutri-Wafers (7 wafers, $7.48)
Calm K9 Nutri-Wafers help reduce stresses incurred from travelling, grooming and during storms or loud noises like fireworks. They also help with dogs predisposed toward hyperactivity. These human grade supplements support proper nervous system function to help keep your dog calm and focused and promote a greater overall sense of well-being.

Puppy Cake - Puptato Chips Natural Sweet Potato Dog Treat (2oz, $4.99)
These are dried sweet potato chips mixed with 2% chicken liver protein. They were not the dog`s favourites, but when all the other good stuff was gobbled up, they went back and finished the chips.

Heartland Premium Doggie Delights - Hickory Smoked Beef Dog Bone ($5.59)
This is an all natural bone, made of USA beef. It`s cut into 5 smaller pieces and the marrow is still intact. My mum is saving it to take to the cottage so the dogs can use it out on the deck. The fine print says `do not use on carpet`!

Bowser Beer (12oz, $3.33)
We brew up our own delicious broth with USDA beef – no flavorings, artificial color, onions, fat, salt,or MSG. In addition, malt barley is good for shiny coats and glucosamine aids in healthy joints.

In total I received 5 products in the June Bark Box, worth approximately $24.40. All the products are great quality and mostly all-natural. The dogs enjoyed the treats they got to try out and I`m positive they will love the bone and the Bowser Beer.

I got my Bark Box for $19, using a promo code (RAMBLING10, via Ramblings of a Suburban Mom). The value is great for the promo price, but the regular price is $29 per month! I cancelled the subscription after the June box, since I don`t have a dog in my own. When I clicked cancel, Bark Box offered me and incentive of another month at only $19, instead of cancelling. Just a little FYI for those of you thinking of signing up for a month or two! I opted to cancel anyway, since I don't need a pet box.

  1. oh wow that marrow bone would be horrible indoors! Such a nice present for your mom's dogs though. I have 3 dogs at home but live far away from them so a pet sub box is not worthwhile for me yet! maybe someday :)

    1. BarkBox is an American service so it ships from the USA. There is no additional tax or duties.
If you are interested in Canadian services, check out my reviews of Bowzer Box, Paws & Play, and Paw Pak. (Check the alphabetical list on the side of the page for links). All 3 are 100% Canadian.
