Ipsy Glam Bag Review - June 2013 - Beauty Subscription Bag

What is it? Ipsy Glam Bag
How Much? $10 per month, plus $4.95 shipping to Canada
What’s in it?  4-5 beauty products every month

Ipsy arrived! It only took one week to arrive, after shipping out on June 10th. Not bad, Ipsy! I checked out spoilers and hints online last week so I knew what to expect (and not to get my hopes too high) but it's still a fun surprise when the bag arrives.

 First look

The theme for June is "On the Wild Side" and all the products came in this really cool leopard print bag. I might actually use this one. I also received a bracelet from BaubleBar as a bonus for referring two friends. Thank you, friends!

This is the O-Ring Stud Wrap bracelet from BaubleBar. I love the colour. Similar bracelets on the BaubleBar website sell for $18!

Now for the products to get me "on the wild side"!

Starlooks Lip Pencil in Tipsy ($12)
Starlooks' long-lasting, full-coverage Lip Pencil enhances the shape of your lips and gives them perfect definition. This creamy, moisturizing formula glides on softly to smooth lips and ensure lipstick stays in place, while extending its wear.

I used to have a Clinique pencil similar to this colour so I’m happy with this. Plus I’m looking forward to trying a Starlooks product.

NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Natural ($6)
The NYX Cream Blush offers radiant color for a dewy, sultry, long lasting finish!

I would have preferred the powder or mosaic blush but I so relieved I got a decent colour that will actually work with my skin tone, completion and overall style. I saw some girls get  hot pink and orange shade. Yikes!

J. Cat Beauty Sparkling Cream Palette in Volta ($4.49)
Everyone loves a little sparkle! Add a healthy dosage of sparkle in your life with the cream palette that comes in a variety of complementing colors. The creamy texture allows the sparkle to be applied easily with an applicator onto your skin.

This is the most useless product I have ever received in a beauty subscription, and I think pretty well every Ipsy subscriber agrees with me. Body glitter? I am not a cheerleader or a Vegas Go-Go dancer. Big fail Ipsy.

Cailyn Cosmetics Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner in Iron ($18)
Whether you are trying to create the eyes of a runway model or the classic look of a 60's Hollywood star, the Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner can make any style possible! The Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner brushes on smooth and stays moist just long enough for wearers to perfect their look. Once dry, the gel is smudge-proof and waterproof for 24 hours. The highly concentrated pigment of the liner creates lusciously smooth lines and is safe for sensitive eyes.

I’m so glad I didn’t get purple! I would have had no use for purple eye liner. I don’t regularly wear eye liner but I’m looking forward to giving this a try.

J. Cat Beauty Eyelash Set C32 ($3.99)
Create some drama with these voluminous faux eyelashes! Available in 30 different styles that you won’t be able to resist. Each includes an individual eyelash adhesive to last you all day long!

I have only ever worth falsies twice – once on my 30th birthday in Vegas when I had my hair and makeup done in a ritzy salon, and once last January when I was maid of honour in a wedding. I love the look, but this isn’t an everyday use product. I guess these are good to have on hand for my next big, glitzy event.

This bag doesn't come close to the amazingness that was the May bag, but it's still a good value. All full sized products, valued just under $45. I like the bag itself better, but the products are hit and miss. At least one of the products won't be used at all, and will also prove difficult to give away. The lashes will be thrown into a drawer and forgotten. The liners and blush will get some play but the only product I am really excited about is the blush, and I don't even like cream blush!

What did you get in your June Ipsy bag?

  1. I got exactly the same as you except I got the mosaic blush. I love the blush and eyeliner but what do I do with the glitter?

  3. The shipping is ridiculously fast! I think that glitter palette was just a mistake...I wonder if they even tested it out before sending it out to everyone!

  4. I got exactly the same as you except for I got the mosaic blush. It was my first Ipsy, and I was relatively happy with everything except for the stupid glitter. I doubt I'll use the falsies anytime soon either, but they're fun to have around. I don't know WHAT they were thinking with that glitter though, what a huge fail.
